Striper season may be over but fishing continues. Unseasonably warm weather prevented many people from winterizing and shrink-wrapping their boats. Some of those anglers took advantage of that by seeking weakfish from Breezy Point south with good success. White Perch were an option for others at the Bay Bridge, Eastern Bay, and the Hill to name a few places.

Several years ago the Freshwater Fisheries Division started a fall trout stocking program that has grown in popularity each year, and is now looked forward to almost as eagerly as the spring trout program. This year we hope to stock about 50,000 rainbow and brown trout during the month of October. These fish become available each fall as hatchery managers thin out their stocks to allow maximum growth in the hatcheries between now and March.
